If you saw the progress and process in this post, you may have noticed I wasn’t quite done with the floor.  But now it’s DONE!!  It was a big project, but one that has made a tremendous difference in this space.

Here’s what the entry way looked like when we moved in…

Now it is lighter, brighter, and far more up to date.  The best part – it’s all paint!!

We eventually want to put down hardwood flooring through the first floor.  But in the meantime while we are saving up, I knew we had to do something different.  Enter in some floor paint, a custom stencil and a little time – and it’s a space I love!!

I will say, it’s hard to take photos of the floor.  I don’t feel like any of these quite do it justice.  But I wanted to give you a better sense of the space all put together.

Here’s the view as you are coming down the stairs.  (The stair case is next on the makeover list!) The grid lines of the parquet floor underneath kept me straight.

I chose a really simple, neutral sisal runner for the front door so it doesn’t take away from the patterned floor.  It’s a great rug at a really good price!

There’s another runner in front of the garage door, it almost matches the pattern of the floor.  And because it’s back in that hallway, it doesn’t bother me much that they don’t match.

I’ve gotten several questions about our closet makeover – “where do you put all the stuff?” – this photo is a glimpse of what it looks like most of the time.  A collection of backpacks, jackets and mail 😉 real life.

The flooring goes all the way into the powder room, and really finishes off this space well.

What a difference, don’t you think??  For all the sources, and a tutorial of how I did this – check out this post!

Until next time, keep painting!
