One of the fun things about Chalk Couture, is that you can put it on just about anything. So any piece of salvage or old thing I like I always wonder, “where can I put Chalk Couture on that?”. A friend of mine picked up these old screens at a yard sale and I loved the frames so much I knew we could make something cool with them!
So if you have an old screen, or just about any other fun surface for that matter, let’s make a sign!
How to Make an Old Screen Into a Sign
Because this is a screen, I put down paper towel underneath to catch anything that may fall through.
I chose this fun transfer, I thought it was something that is perfect for Christmas, but could also last a bit longer into the winter.
I peeled the backing off and positioned it where I wanted it.
Then I used Bright White Chalkology Paste and Evergreen Chalkology Paste for the sign. I love these multi tools, they fit in my hand like a pen, and allow me to get into all the details of the design. I just put it all on there – it took more than usual (because of the screen) so be sure to have enough!
When you pull the transfer off, this is what it looked like. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. It was hard to see.
Because of the nature of the screen, you could still see through it (and the design), so it would really depend what color wall you were to hang this on as to if it would work or not…
Solution? Black felt. I grabbed some at the craft store and stapled it to the back of the frame.
