This pink nightstand makeover is brought to you by one of the brand new General Finishes Milk Paint colors, Ballet Pink. I’m not really a “pink” girl, but I’ve done my share of color mixing to find just the right soft blush color. Here are two examples of vanities I’ve done in blush pink, one with a little shimmer, one without. The right color pink can almost be considered a neutral these days, depending on what colors are paired with it. There is also nothing so sweet as just the right amount of pink for a little girl’s room. So as soon as I found out General Finishes Milk Paint line now had a pink, I knew it was one I wanted to try! Let me tell you, this color doesn’t disappoint! It’s beautiful.
I filmed a tutorial video showing the new color and the process for painting this nightstand (it was sold as a tea cart, but I’m choosing to call it a nightstand instead). This is the only “before” photo I got, I was too excited to get painting to stop and take a picture. So here’s Ballet Pink:
Pink Nightstand Makeover
Step 1. Scuff sand and clean your piece. I use 220 grit sandpaper to sand. A mix of 50/50 denatured alcohol and water in a spray bottle works well to clean the piece.
Step 2. Paint! I used 2.5 coats of Ballet Pink Milk Paint on this piece. (The half coat is just to cover any additional spots that needed a little extra).
Step 3. Distress as desired. I just did a bit of distressing with 120 grit sandpaper. Not much, just a bit.
Step 4. Attach your hardware. I used a mix of some knobs I had in my hardware stash as well as these pulls.
Here it is all finished up. Such a sweet piece. This hardware set it off perfectly.
This piece came with a piece of glass so I thought I’d keep it on there for a little additional protection for the piece.
